On the 25th of May 2023 will be organized the online seminar about the "Observing Sagittarius A* with ALMA" which will be hosted by dr. Maciek Wielgus himself.
The abstract: Sagittarius A* is a supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way. With the exquisite sensitivity of ALMA we can study the event horizon-scale variability of this system with unprecedented time cadence and signal-to-noise ratio. I will present the recent findings of the full-Stokes Sagittarius A* light curve analysis and their relation to the observations by the Event Horizon Telescope. I will also discuss the results of the orbital motion model application to the Sagittarius A* linear polarization ALMA light curves at millimeter wavelength, and the emerging theoretical connection to the high-energy flaring activity of the system. In this framework the orbiting features correspond to flux tubes formed following reconnection events in the equatorial plane of magnetically arrested accretion disks.
