On the 11th of May 2023 will be organized the seminar about the "Current topics in accretion II" . The event will happen on the premises of the Institute of physics on the 3rd floor (room 316) and will be hosted by prof. Wlodzimierz Kluzniak.

The abstract: Accretion (mass and angular momentum transfer) is a ubiquitous process in the Universe, affecting the evolution of planets, stars and galaxies. When it occurs onto a compact object, such as a black hole or neutron star it is responsible for spectacular electromganetic displays of great power. I am going to give some examples of recent and on-going theoretical research results pertaining to accretion, at the same time explaining the basics of the physics of accretion discs and the methods of finding mathematical solutions. These three lectures are not meant as a replacement for standard texts such as Frank, King and Raine, or Kato and Mineshige. Rather, I will try to share some insights behind the formal solutions to the relevant equations, and show how these sometimes lead to unexpected discoveries.

Should you have any questions about the event itself, do not hesitate to reach out to us on this following e-mail address: debora.lancova@physics.slu.cz.

We are looking forward to your participation!
