On the 22nd of March 2023 will happen the seminar about the "Iron line as a tool to understand accreting sources". The event will happen on the premises of the Institute of physics in the Director´s meeting room (2nd floor, room 2019) and will be hosted by Mr. Biswaraj Palit himself.

Abstract:
Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) exhibit several signatures of accretion processes in their X-ray spectrum. One of these signatures is the fluorescent Iron emission line and absorption edge, which arises due to the reflection of hard X-rays by optically thick material located within 10-20 gravitational radii of the central black hole. Upcoming X-ray missions with spectacular energy resolution hold the most promise for this field. I discuss how iron lines provide a direct observational probe into the innermost regions of accretion disks and the surrounding AGN environmen
