On the 4th of April 2023 will be organized the seminar about the "Probing the event horizon geometry with the overtones of the quasinormal ringing". The event will happen on the premises of the Institute of physics in the Director´s meeting room (2nd floor, room 2019) and will be hosted by Mr. Olexandr Zhydenko himself.

Abstract:
The dominant quasinormal frequency is determined by the scattering of perturbations around the peak of the effective potential, being therefore a characteristic of the geometry of the radiation zone. At the same time the overtones of the gravitational-wave signal can be sensitive to the near-horizon geometry and, therefore, their detection can probe the geometry of the event horizon. I shall discuss the quasinormal ringing of the black holes, which differ from the Schwarzschild solution only near the event horizon, and a parametric approach to the near-horizon deformations of the Schwarzschild black holes.
