The Department of Business Economics and Management consists of eighteen members of academic staff, three members of pedagogical staff, one research worker and eight internal Ph.D. students. The department’s composition corresponds to the needs of a qualification structure and professional orientation reflecting the current needs of the market. Staff members engage in scientific and research activities, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and regularly present their findings at academic conferences. They also teach in the MBA and U3V programs. The department fosters collaboration with both foreign and domestic universities. Since 2023, international cooperation has been primarily focused on the
European University STARS EU project. In the field of research, the department participates and cooperates with corporate partners on contract research projects through the
Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, and the results of this activity are then reflected in the practical application of final theses and directly in teaching. In 2025–29, the department is leading the TAČR scientific research project “
System for the Evaluation and Development of Students’ Entrepreneurial Competencies,” and in 2023–26, it is participating in another TAČR project, “
Entrepreneurship as a Second Career, or Entrepreneurship 2.0” together with partners at the University of Economics in Prague and CzechInvest. From 2024 to 2028, the department is conducting the international research project
COST CA23120, and from 2025 to 2026, we are participating in a
Visegrad Fund project. Successful projects include, for example, the
Horizon 2020 project (2021–22),
COST (2021–23), and the
Visegrad Fund (2023–24).
The broad range of courses offered (including those taught in English) focuses on areas such as entrepreneurship, business economics, management, human resources, project management, business digitalization support, marketing, as well as information support for business operations and business start-ups. The courses respect the professional and academic orientation of the study programs and offer diverse involvement of industry experts directly in teaching.
