Doctoral program

Conditions for the admission to the doctoral study programme in Economics and Management accredited in English in the full-time and part-time forms of study at the Silesian University in Opava (SU), School of Business Administration in Karviná (SBA) for the academic year 2023/2024.

• The selection of a dissertation topic. Upon prior consultation with the supervisor, it is possible to choose a different topic apart from the suggested list of topics, yet it has to correspond to the scope of study. It is also possible, upon agreement with the supervisor, to propose your own dissertation topic. The list of all available supervisors is available here. In case you would like to have your own topic, it is also necessary to subsequently contact the Vice-Dean for Science and Research (paleckova@opf.slu.cz).
• The submission of an electronic application until August 31, 2023.
• The submission of supporting documents by email (binova@opf.slu.cz) until August 31, 2023:
• Officially certified copies of a diploma proving graduation from a Master's degree programme of the same or a similar focus. Applicants who have completed a degree study programme abroad shall substantiate the certified copy or original of the decision on the recognition of foreign higher education in Czechia in the enrolment period at the latest, unless otherwise specified in an international agreement.
• A structured CV including list of scholarly publications
• A proposal of dissertation project in a minimum of 5 pages. The obligatory parts of the proposal are a summary of the current state of knowledge, the specification of the goals of the future dissertation, proposed research methods, the expected structure of the dissertation and the list of references. The proposal has to be discussed with the future supervisor prior to the submission.
• The payment of the administrative fee for the admission procedure shall be completed before conducting entrance examination but no longer than August 31, 2023.
• The successful completion of the admission procedure. An entrance examination is part of the admission procedure, which shall take place in the months of January 2023 until September 2023. The entrance examination will be held online.
• The payment for the tuition fee shall be made by the applicant based on the Dean’s decision. The tuition fee is intended for the entire academic year in advance.
