Current information on the postponement of classes and access to the faculty

Postponement of the start of the winter semester and access to the main building

Serious damage to the roof has caused water leakage into some of our teaching spaces in the main building at University Square in Karvina. Currently, the Big Hall and Aula are out of service. Due to the evacuation of the Big Hall, the faculty foyer will also be out of service. In some parts of the building, operations are limited, so please follow the instructions on the warning signs.

Classes will be adjusted according to available capacity, with some classes being moved to the dormitory building. Schedule changes will be visible starting from September 25, 2024. In connection with this measure, lecturers will tolerate late arrivals to seminars and lectures, but only in cases where the students’ schedule does not allow enough time to move between buildings.

During the closure of the foyer area, please use the buffet, study room, or the space in front of the Aula, which has been enhanced with new seating, for resting or working between seminars and lectures. For longer breaks, the Business Gate coworking center on Poštovní 615 is also available to you.

We remind you that due to the flood situation the start of classes for the winter semester is postponed to September 30, 2024.

Welcoming days will be during September 25-27 and October 3-4, 2024.

The graduation ceremony will take place on October 4, 2024, at the Družba Municipal Hall.

In case of any changes to the teaching schedule or building operations, we will inform you immediately.

We believe that together we will overcome this situation and soon everything will return to normal.
