ESN comes to Silesian University

A new Erasmus Student Network (ESN) candidate section was officially established at our university, opening in June 2025. With this step, we are becoming part of one of the largest student organisations in Europe and opening up new opportunities for both foreign and domestic students.

So what exactly is ESN?

It is a pan-European student organisation whose mission is to promote mobility, help foreign students adapt to their new environment, and build an international community.

The ESN candidate section at Silesian University in Karviná will therefore ensure that foreign students have support, a community, and feel at home here. As part of this, we organise a buddy program, joint events, trips, and much more to introduce Czech culture, connect local and foreign students, and enable everyone to gain new experiences, learn about other cultures, and build friendships.

It also includes the local Board, which manages and runs the candidate section at our university. The team consists of a president, vice president, treasurer, HR manager, communication manager and events manager. All of them are students at our university, which reflects the ESN value: students for students.

The establishment of ESN at our university aims to create a more open and connected student community and brings many new opportunities. We all have something to look forward to, because we are just getting started!
