The School of Business Administration (SBA) welcomed back one of its successful graduates, Ondřej Soška, Commissioner General of Czechia’s participation at the world exhibition Expo 2025 in Osaka. During his visit we recorded an in-depth interview with him. He looks back on the creation of the Czech pavilion, shares his experience with international cooperation and shows how world expos open doors for Czech companies and culture. At the same time, he talks about his journey from Karviná to the world and offers today’s students an honest view of work, perseverance and the courage to change things around them.

In the first part of the interview, he describes how demanding it was to manage a project thanks to which 1.5 million people visited the Czech pavilion, which received a gold medal from visitors and other prestigious awards and became the most visible presentation of Czechia in Japan in recent decades. He also reveals behind-the-scenes aspects of cooperation with partners from all over the world and explains why Expo still has enormous importance in the era of virtual technologies.

In the second part of the interview, Ondřej looks back at his student years at SBA. He talks about how his studies taught him independence, strategic planning and the courage to go abroad – whether to Japan or the United Kingdom. He definitely does not see today’s students as a “fragile” generation; on the contrary, he appreciates their energy and their desire to do things that make sense. His message is clear: work hard, be persistent and resilient, because “real diamonds are created under pressure”.
