Train-e-Hotel Project Meeting in Karviná

The international partners of the project Innovation of the professional training of future tourism experts using a fictitious training hotel coordinated by the Slovak institution Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovakia), Dept of Tourism at the Faculty of Central European Studies, met in Karviná during January 24 – 26, 2024.

The project involves 5 European universities located in Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Slovakia, and Czechia. Partner universities emphasize enforcing of new methods in entrepreneurial education comprised in European educational policy developing skills related to initiative and entrepreneurship, which should include creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as management in the area of tourism. 

Project tasks are solved by the Dept of Tourism and Leisure Activities at School of Business Administration in Karviná, Silesian University in Opava, which was an organizer of the last partners’ meeting in Karviná held in the 3rd year of cooperation within the project between January 24 - 26, 2024. Participants of the meeting were project partners from University of Pannonia in Hungary, Turiba University in Latvia, University of Salento in Italy, Silesian University in Opava in Czechia, and Constantine the Philosopher University in Slovakia.

The key activities of the meeting were related to management, administration and the financial plan of the project, but especially to the results related to PR1 – Intercultural Marketing and PR5 – Environmental Strategy. Students and teachers from partner universities delivered presentations about their progress related to intercultural marketing and environmental strategy. The presentations were followed by discussion of the meeting participants and evaluation of the submitted output.

Project partners also needed to discuss problems connected especially with accounting and the final report that has to be submitted at the end of the project. A lot of attention has been devoted to dissemination of the project, especially to the organization of the project conference which is supposed to be held in Nitra in September 2024. The project partners have agreed on continuing of the project involving also universities from Cyprus, Poland and Slovenia and submitting an application in March 2024.
