The International Relations Office together with the Buddy team organized the traditional St. Nicholas Day party for international students.
St. Nicholas, the angel and the devil had a really long shift this year at our faculty, as they had the task to reward or punish our international students for their actions this year. On December 6, the students were able to learn more about our Czech traditions and experience one of our most joyous holidays - the celebration of St. Nicholas. The arrival of St. Nicholas, the angel and the devil falls on December 5, the season of Advent, a magical time of the year when the candles on the Advent wreath are lit and the comfort of home is scented with cinnamon and the promise of Christmas hangs in the air.

Czech and international students shared their Christmas traditions and we could see the comparison between Czech and Indian culture. And then Nicholas, the angel and the devil himself surprised the students with a personal visit! They came up with the idea that each student has to choose a task from the St Nicholas hat to complete. The students enthusiastically embraced the opportunity and completed tasks ranging from singing songs to introducing themselves in Czech, or showing love without words using pantomime.

Even the "bad" students, who had to draw two tasks, took up the challenge with courage. Students were also able to sample traditional Advent dishes, such as the traditional sweet braided bread with butter and a variety of other Christmas cookies. The atmosphere was enhanced by a traditional Advent mulled wine, which spiced up the mood of everyone present. All these activities brought the students together and created an unforgettable experience that the international students will remember for a long time to come.
