In pursuance of STARS EU alliance, Silesian University in Opava had the honor to welcome alliance leaders from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, located in Groningen, Netherlands. The program for our guests was very rich in activities and took place in a very positive and friendly atmosphere.

The STARS EU alliance of which Silesian University is a proud member has been awarded the prestigious European University status by the European Commission in the Erasmus+ Call for European Universities 2023.

Dozens of participants from abroad attended the fourth edition of International Week

In the week of 24 April 2023, the School of Business Administration hosted the 4th edition of International Week (IW) event, which aimed to provide opportunities for discussion and sharing of good practice in the field of internationalisation of universities, deepening cooperation within our network of partner universities and establishing new contacts. The IW is also a great opportunity for employees from our partner universities to go for an Erasmus+ stay abroad. We welcomed over 70 participants from 14 different countries and 20 foreign universities. Countries represented included Albania, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Turkey. More than 150 students from our faculty also participated in the programme.

Erasmus+ BIP: cooperation in an international team with one week mobility in Portugal

In cooperation with universities within the Strategic Alliance for Regional Transition (STARS EU), we offer a program in which students work in international teams to solve assignments for companies and organisations from different EU countries. This semester, we also offer a new BIP focused on circular bioeconomy. The collaboration takes place mainly online and partly offline on a week-long trip to the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in Portugal. Take the opportunity to experience international team work, improve your English, gain valuable experience and 6 ECTS credits on top of that!

Launching STARS EU conference in Groningen, NL

Last Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June, the representatives of our university participated in the Launching STARS EU conference at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the Netherlands. STARS EU is an alliance of 8 European universities, 8 countries and a common vision of a European university. The purpose of the alliance is to join forces in creating joint activities and inspire each other in the field of teaching, research, innovation and development of our regions. We are very happy that we are part of it and that we will bring new ideas to our faculty.
