Lenka Přečková from the Department of Finance and Accounting has co-authored an article with Eva Vávrová from Masaryk University titled "Evaluation of the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Financial Health of Commercial Insurance Companies in the Czech Republic", published in the international academic journal Research Papers in Economics and Finance.

The paper examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the financial health of commercial insurance companies in Czechia. The authors analyzed financial performance indicators such as gross written premiums growth, cost efficiency, profitability, and solvency. Insurers were categorized into groups focusing predominantly on life insurance and those specializing in non-life insurance. The study covers the period 2016–2021 and focuses on the pandemic's impact on specific financial indicators.

The key findings show that the pandemic had a significant negative impact on insurers' solvency and profitability, especially in the travel insurance sector, which was severely affected by restrictions during the pandemic. However, the crisis also accelerated digitalization in the insurance sector, providing new opportunities to improve efficiency.
