Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Gongol became the Rector of Silesian University after his appointment by the President of the Czech Republic on 1 March this year. He has been working at the Silesian University in Opava since 2004. Before he was elected by the University Academic Senate as a candidate for the post of Rector, he served as Vice-Rector for Strategy and Communication. During the ceremony, he took the inauguration oath together with the secondly elected Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava, Prof. Irena Korbelářová, and the newly elected Dean of the School of Business Administration in Karviná, Assoc. Prof. Roman Šperka. 

The event was truly magical, featuring a captivating performance by the university choir. The inauguration was followed by a concert by the band Nerez with Lucie Šoralová for all guests and the academic community.
