At its meeting on 26 October 2023, the Selection Committee of the Operational Programme Just Transition Fund recommended the CEPIS project (Centre for Entrepreneurship, Professional and International Studies) for funding. This effectively completes the evaluation and approval process, which will be finalized by the end of the year with the issuance of the grant decision.
In its recommendation, the Selection Committee set two milestones, namely the conclusion of the works contract by November 2024 and the completion of the building approval procedure by June 2027. The project can thus move from the preparation, presentation and advocacy phase to the implementation phase. The advisory opinion is an acknowledgement of the important role the Silesian University and its School of Business Administration play in providing quality education and developing entrepreneurship.
The approval of the project was symbolically celebrated by introducing CEPIS to a delegation of European journalists who visited the Moravian-Silesian Region on 14-16 November 2023 as part of the "Just Transition media trip and RegioStars". The Vice-Rector of Silesian University Daniel Stavárek first presented the main objectives and benefits of CEPIS at a meeting with journalists in Dolní Vítkovice, Ostrava on 15 November, where five other already approved strategic projects were also presented. A group of about 25 journalists from various countries and media then personally visited the School of Business Administration, where they learned from Vice-Rector Stavárek and Libor Chlebiš from the Strategic Project Management Department further details about the study programmes that will be implemented in CEPIS, the architectural concept of the building or the project's relation to other activities of the Silesian University.
