Study without barriers

Our goal is to provide equal opportunities for students with specific needs to access higher education in accredited study programs offered by Silesian University. To achieve this, we offer the services of a special educator who provides counselling and support to both applicants and current students. The Advisory Center provides specialized education services based on well-developed concepts and methodologies.

We help solve academic and personal problems, provide crisis intervention in difficult life situations, and provide professional consultations and services to students with specific needs.

We offer a wide range of advice and services to applicants and students:

  • with visual impairment,
  • with hearing impairment,
  • with upper and lower limb disabilities,
  • with combined disabilities,
  • with specific learning disabilities,
  • with autism spectrum disorder,
  • other difficulties (chronic somatic diseases, psychological disorders)

Support for applicants with Specific Needs:

  • provide information about study opportunities at individual institutes of the Silesian University in Opava,
  • individual consultations for those interested in studying at Silesian University, including the possibility of personal modification of the admission procedure conditions,
  • organisation of information seminars for applicants.

Supporting students with Specific Needs:

  • use of the facilities of the Advisory Center,
  • administration of individual study plans,
  • according to the needs and interests of the students, arranging sign language interpreting services,
  • according to the needs and interests of students, providing assistance and note-taking services related to their studies (study assistance),
  • digitisation and adaptation of study materials with the possibility of using special compensatory aids,
  • the option of borrowing compensatory aids,
  • opportunity to use the facilities and equipment of the Advisory Center for study purposes (Advisory Center Study Room)
  • and other services.

Special education consultations and services are available from Monday to Friday by appointment. These appointments can be made via phone or email and will take place at the Advisory Center located at 625/25 Olbrichova Street. The Advisory Center is accessible by lift from the backyard and is located on the first floor.
