Most cards have limited validity, which must be renewed annually. The renewal process is called revalidation.
  • For STUDENT and EMPLOYEE cards, validity is extended free of charge, if necessary (after eligibility is checked by a card center staff member or at a distribution point), by affixing a revalidation sticker. 
  • For licensed ISIC/ITIC/ALIVE cards, renewal is carried out by paying a revalidation fee for the next period. The fee for the new period can be paid from August 1. To pay the revalidation fee, proceed as follows:
    • On the Fees page, check the current amount of the fee for extending the validity of the GTS license.
    • Pay the fee in the appropriate amount according to the instructions on the Payments page. 
    • The portal will not allow you to pay the fee in the following cases:
      • You are attempting to pay before August 1 while your card is still valid.
      • You have lost eligibility for your current card due to termination or change of study type. If you have completed your studies, your card validity can no longer be renewed. In the case of a change of study type, proceed as follows:
        • In the My Card section, choose “Return card”.
        • Select New request and apply for the card you are currently eligible for.
        • Then follow these instructions starting from step no. 3.
        • Please kindly return your original card when collecting the new one.
    • Your card validity will be automatically renewed once the payment is credited to the Silesian University’s account. This usually takes 1–2 business days. For international payments, this may take longer. 
      • You will receive confirmation of payment and card renewal via a message sent to your university email inbox. You can also check the renewal status after logging in to karty.slu.cz in the My Card section. At the same time, your digital card in the Alive App (if activated) will also be renewed automatically.
      • If, after 5 business days, you have not received a confirmation email and your card validity has not been renewed, please contact us at karty (at) slu.cz. Attach proof of payment from online banking or a screenshot showing all relevant payment details (payer and recipient account numbers, amount, variable symbol).
