Hi everybody! I spent an Erasmus semester abroad in the south of Spain at the Universidad de Almería, and it was an interesting experience.

The winter semester starts on the 5th of September and ends on the 19th of December. Most of the courses are worth 6 ECTS credits. I had 24 credits, and if I had taken more classes, it's possible I wouldn't have passed so easily. The courses are taught in Spanish and occasionally in English. However, there wasn't much choice of courses that were taught in English.

Almería is the easternmost city in Andalusia. It has a sunny climate with an average temperature of around 18 °C. The university campus is modern and located on the outskirts of the city near the airport, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Getting around the city is easy thanks to the large number of buses and cycle paths. The city is full of shops selling everything from key rings to bags and clothes.

The campus consists of several buildings, including the main building, the library, and the sports centre. The library is a great place to study, with lots of study rooms and computers. There are also various cafes and restaurants on campus where you can eat well. The university offers a wide range of extracurricular activities such as sports clubs, language courses, and cultural events. International students can use the Best Life organisation or ESN to organise trips and events. I have been on numerous trips to nearby cities or countries. During the semester we went with the group of ESN to cities like Granada, Seville, Lisbon, Morocco, etc. Every week we had ESN themed parties at La Clásica club where we met other international students, and it was so much fun.

I lived in an apartment with other students in the Zapillo area, which was a short walk from the city centre and 2 minutes from the beach. I was very happy in this area, which we called "the student part of Almeria". We all lived close to each other, so we became a great group of friends, and together we discovered the beauty of the city and its surroundings. Sometimes we'd stay in someone's apartment, where we had the chance to taste and experience the culture of other countries, such as Mexico, Korea, Chile, and other European countries. I also had the chance to cook with my girls from Mexico their favourite dish, "sopes" and it was delicious. :)

I am so glad to have the opportunity to spend a semester here. It was an unforgettable experience that gave me a lot personally and academically.
