Welcome Days started a bit unusual this year by climbing the Gírová Mountain (840 m. above sea level) in Jablunkovské Mezihoří. The weather was nice, so there was a winter fun and snowball fight at the very top of the mountain. Having refreshed with a bowl of goulash soup and a glass of good beer, we headed back to Mosty u Jablunkova. The last stop of the day was Hotel Grůň - the largest log hotel in the Czech Republic. On Thursday, the Faculty enrolled new foreign students to study. Students received timetables, presentation packages and got acquainted with the university building. This was followed by a guided tour of the slant church of St. Peter of Alcantara. Some students also tried playing the organ. After joint lunch in the city centre, we went for a short walk to the castle park and visited the Business Gate. On Friday PhDr. Krystyna Heinz, from the Department of Tourism and Leisure Activities, guided us in Czech Cieszyn and Polish Cieszyn, for which we thank her very much. After lunch, we had a tour of the castle brewery in Cieszyn incl. tasting several specials. We ended Welcome Days with a pleasant concert performed by David Vysloužil & Acoustic Irish at the Backstage Dokořán in the grounds of the chateau park.
 
In addition to newcomers from abroad, Welcome Days also included Erasmus+ students and BEM students, Czech “buddies”, coordinators of the Department of International Relations and Ing. Radim Dolák, Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics and Mathematics.
