On 15th - 16th May, we have organized an international scientific conference called Decision Making for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (DEMSME 2019). The organizers are the Department of Business Economics and Management and the Department of Informatics and Mathematics.

The second year of Decision Making for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (DEMSME 2019) was a meeting of experts from universities and businesses interested in the theory and application of decision making processes using informatics and mathematics , business economics, management and marketing approaches in the practice of SMEs. The conference results are published in the conference proceedings sent to the Web of Science database and / or in partner journals indexed in Web of Science and / or Scopus.

The main objective of the conference was to promote a wider debate on decision-making processes from an interdisciplinary and interregional perspective. Each participant had the chance to exchange experiences and gain inspiration for further creative research with colleagues from different countries, universities and various business areas. The conference was held in a pleasant environment of Petrovice chateau in Petrovice near Karviná.

At the second year of DEMSME we welcomed 35 participants from five countries (Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Netherlands). Although this was a smaller event, discussions among participants on the decision making methods in various fields of business were all the more intense. The choice of keynote speakers was not accidental - the organizers tried to cover both the practitioner's approach and the research, or the expert's perspective, using IT and statistical support. We have not forgotten the enrichment of scientific, but also cultural, by visiting the castle and the Karviná brewery.

That is why we hope that the third conference in 2021 will be at least as interesting as this year.
