My journey from India to the School of Business Administration in Karvina at Silesian University in Opava for my Master’s degree in Business Economics and Management has been an adventure filled with learning, growth, and a few amusing cultural missteps.

When I first arrived, I was completely new to the Czech culture and the Czech students' environment. Thankfully, the buddy program came to my rescue. My buddy, Hynek Drobilík, was an absolute lifesaver, helping me adapt to my new surroundings. Hynek introduced me to Czech customs, university life, and even the best places to find a decent cup of coffee. His support was so inspiring that I decided to become a buddy myself, paying it forward to help other newcomers navigate their initial days.

The teaching methods at the university were top-notch. We learned through a method aptly named “learning by doing,” which meant we didn't just sit through lectures but actively worked on applying what we learned in real-time. This hands-on approach was immensely helpful in understanding complex concepts. Plus, it kept us on our toes – no napping in the back row here!

Then the Erasmus mobility opportunities caught my attention! I had the chance to participate in two incredible programs. The first was at IPB Braganca in Portugal, focused on challenge-based innovation, and the second was at Hanze University in the Netherlands, where I delved into startup simulation. These experiences expanded my network and also provided me with invaluable insights and practical knowledge. Plus, they were great excuses to travel and eat delicious Portuguese pastries and Dutch cheese!

Working at Business Gate, a part of the university, was another highlight. I started as a team member and eventually became a team leader, gaining invaluable experience working with real-time companies. The transition from a newbie to a leader was challenging yet rewarding. It was gratifying to see my knowledge grow and my responsibilities increase, all while making a tangible impact on real businesses.

One of my proudest achievements was launching The Talk Club at the university. The support I received from the faculty and my peers was overwhelming. They encouraged me at every step, helping turn this idea into a thriving platform for cultural exchange and dialogue. It was both humbling and exhilarating to see the club grow and make a difference.

Now, as I stand at the crossroads of this journey, I am considering pursuing a PhD. Given the supportive environment and the rich experiences I've had here, I am hopeful and excited about the possibility of continuing my academic journey at Silesian University. Fingers crossed, I'll soon be back navigating the world of academia with a "Dr." before my name!

My time at Silesian University in Opava has been nothing short of transformative. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve received and am excited about what the future holds.
