The ALIVE card is an international multifunctional student ID issued in countries where the GTS Alive Group operates..
It serves as an identity card and proof of enrollment at the Silesian University in Opava. It is recognized both in the Czech Republic and abroad and entitles holders to discounts within the international network of ISIC contractual partners.
The ALIVE card is intended for students enrolled in forms of study other than full-time attendance. An ALIVE card issued by another institution cannot be used as a student ID at the Silesian University in Opava!

You can also use the ALIVE card in a digital version through the Alive App mobile application. In the app, you will find a list of ISIC contractual partners where you can avail discounts, including the ability to view discounts on a map based on your location. The digital ALIVE card activated in the Alive App allows you to avail discounts just like its plastic version. Additionally, the application provides information about the validity period of the license. However, for proving identity and access via readers on university premises, it is currently necessary to use exclusively the plastic version of this card.
Activation of the ALIVE card in the Alive App:
- The card can be activated in the app after its plastic version has been produced, which is
- either ready for pickup at a distribution point
- or has already been collected at a distribution point and is in circulation.
- Download the Alive App.
- Enter the license number assigned to your ALIVE card in the app, which you can find
- after logging into the karty.slu.cz portal in the "My card" or "Moje karta" section or
- on your plastic card as the card number.
Validity of the ALIVE card
- Electronic validity in Silesian University systems
- The ALIVE card is electronically valid for the entire duration of full-time study. During this period, the holder's identity and duration of full-time study can be confirmed by presenting the card to an electronic reader. Additionally, the ALIVE card can be used for the purposes described in the The usage of your ID card section.
- Visual validity of the ISIC card
- Visual validity serves to verify the validity of the card in situations where an electronic reader is not available. Visual validity is indicated as information on the plastic card or on the revalidation sticker.
- The period of visual validity for the ALIVE card is limited to a maximum of 16 months. It starts no earlier than September 1st and ends on December 31st of the following calendar year.
- A staff member of the card center at one of the distribution points can extend the visual validity of the ALIVE card by affixing an ALIVE revalidation sticker. The issuance of the revalidation sticker is subject to payment of a validation fee (see ALIVE license validity below).
- ALIVE License Validity
- A valid license is necessary to avail benefits and discounts associated with the ALIVE card at ISIC contractual partners.
- The basic validity of the license is indicated on the plastic version of the card as Validity, and renewed validity of the license is indicated in the Alive App and, in the case of the plastic version of the card, on the ALIVE revalidation sticker.
- The validity of the license can be renewed annually for the duration of full-time study by paying a validation fee. The process of renewing validity (revalidation) is described in the section "Validity Extension".
- Renewal of the validity of the license for the digital version of your ALIVE card in the Alive App will occur automatically once the payment is received into the university's account (usually within 2 days of payment).
- The renewal of the visual validity of the license for the plastic version of the ALIVE card will be done by a staff member of the card center at one of the distribution points by affixing an ALIVE revalidation sticker to the back of the card. The issuance of the revalidation sticker is subject to payment of a validation fee.
