What is a student, employee and alumni card?

The Silesian University in Opava (hereinafter referred to as SU) issues a student card to students, an employee card to employees and an alumni card to its graduates in the form of chip identification cards (hereinafter referred to as "IDK") with the following data:

  • Name
  • Surname
  • Photo
  • Person identifier
  • Card number
  • Date of birth
  • Validity of the licence (in case of a card with a licence)
  • License number (in case of a card with a license)
  • Validity

Every person – student, employee and graduate of SU – is issued with a card (IDK) that is active in SU's electronic systems throughout their study or employment period. In addition to this electronic validity, each IDK is also bound to the so-called visual validity, which is marked on the IDK and can be extended by revalidation marks.

A student card serves as an evidence of the holder´s relation to a higher education institution, as amended by Act No. 111/1998 Coll. (Section 57).  Each student is obliged, according to Article 9 para. 1 of the Study and Examination Regulations of the Silesian University in Opava in full version valid from 1.9.2013, to proof him/herself with a valid student card containing an up-to-date photograph during the check of study. This means an electronic validity tied to the active state of the student in the information system of the study administration.
