Bachelor’s programme, vocationally oriented full-time and part-time study


The branch study of Public Administration and Social Policy is designed as integrated studies of subjects of social-scientific disciplines, public administration and social policy. The branch is fully integrated in the area framework of social context; therefore the branch orientation includes subjects providing the students with professional competences for practice of public administration and social policy.
The branch profile is opened by studies of introductory specialized subjects serving as base for subsequent development of specialized profile of the branch.

The subject set of Public Administration includes courses of administration law, macro and micro economics, public economics, public finance, administration and political sciences, courses on issues of European integration, continued by a number of standard subjects from the area of theory and practice of public administration, applied political science and fundamentals of regional sciences. Attention is paid to issues of transformation and integration within the Czech Republic and EU, to social and national policy in regions. The branch of study offers the opportunity of comprehensive acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge on the studied matter and it is also completed with studies of languages and ICT competences.

The set of subjects of the bloc of Social Policy consists of selected subjects developing information on the picture of modern development of social policy within the required competences, i.e. of social policy, theory and methods of social work, practical training and supervision, social psychology, labour market and employment policy, human resources management, consulting and legislation. It includes also other subjects exceeding the standard framework, with focus on social work with specific target groups, e.g. with ethnic and minority groups. The branch of study includes also studies of fundamentals of philosophy, ethics, sociology, and subjects dealing with basic research methods and techniques.

The branch of study reacts on the requirements of the labour market, particularly on growing demand of governmental organizations and private sector institutions for qualified professionals with potential of theoretical and practical competences.

From that aspect, the studies are focused particularly on the following issues: cooperation between institutions of state administration and self-government, non-profit organizations, local associations, etc., social exclusion and inclusion, prevention of and fight with unemployment and displays of work discrimination of some population groups (e.g. women, migrants, health-handicapped persons, etc.), as well as other forms of discrimination, community cooperation, participation of community inhabitants in solution of problems from different life spheres, intergeneration solidarity.
