Most cards have a limited validity period that needs to be renewed annually. This process is called revalidation.
  • For STUDENT and EMPLOYEE cards, if necessary (after checking the entitlement duration by the card center or distribution point), the validity is extended by affixing a revalidation sticker free of charge.
  • For licensed cards such as ISIC/ITIC/ALIVE, the validity renewal is done by paying a revalidation fee for the next period and affixing the so-called revalidation sticker on the back of the card. Follow these steps:
    • Check the current revalidation fee for extending the validity of the GTS license on the Fees page.
    • Pay the fee according to the instructions on the Payments page.
      • The portal will not allow you to pay the fee if you have lost your entitlement to your current card due to the termination of study or change in the form of study. If you have completed or terminated your studies, we cannot renew the validity of your card. In case of a change in the form of study, follow these steps:
        • In the "My Card" or "Moje karta" section, select "Return Card or "Vrátit kartu".
        • Choose "New Application" or "Nová žádost" and submit a request for a card for which you currently have entitlement.
        • Then follow this guide starting from step #3.
        • Kindly return the original card to us upon receiving the new card.
    • The validity of your card will be automatically renewed after the payment is credited to the account of the Silesian University. This usually takes 1-2 business days. In the case of payments from abroad, this period may be extended.
      • We will confirm the receipt of payment and the renewal of validity by sending a message to your university email inbox. You can also check the validity renewal after logging in to karty.slu.cz in the "My Card" or "Moje karta" section. Additionally, the validity of your digital card in the Alive App will be automatically renewed if you have it activated.
      • If you have not received a confirmation email and the card validity has not been renewed even after 5 business days, please contact us at karty (at) slu.cz. Attach proof of payment from online banking or a screenshot showing all relevant payment details (payer and recipient account numbers, amount, variable symbol).
    • Once you receive an email confirming the payment receipt, you can pick up the revalidation sticker at one of the distribution points.
