During the week of May 12–16, 2025, seven female students from the Faculty of Public Policies at the Silesian University in Opava are participating in the in-person component of the international course Norm-Consciousness and Health, held at University West in Trollhättan, Sweden.

The course was developed as one of the key outcomes of the Breaking Fences project and represents the culmination of the collective efforts of the entire project team. A pilot run was held in 2024, including an on-site component at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) in Portugal. The course is now delivered as an official Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), with students from four partner universities of the STARS EU alliance (Silesian University, University West, IPB, and HUAS) actively participating.

Throughout the week, students engage intensively with topics related to equity in healthcare, inclusion, diversity, and the power structures influencing these domains. The programme includes creative workshops, group assignments, and collaborative projects. The outcomes of these activities will contribute to the development of the Norm Lab – an educational platform focused on norm-critical approaches in health and social education.

A highlight of the week is NormDay (May 15), a thematic day featuring a series of inspiring lectures, exhibitions, workshops, and evening networking activities open to the wider public. The event brings together academics, practitioners, and students from across Europe, emphasizing innovative approaches to questions of normality, health, and social responsibility.
