GA ČR is an independent public organisation supporting basic research throughout all scientific fields from public funds. GA ČR is the only institution in the Czech Republic, which provides public funding exclusively for basic research projects.

TA ČR is an organizational unit of the state that was founded in 2009 especially for preparation and realization of its own programmes of applied research, experimental development and innovation and realization of programmes from those governmental departments without public financial support

The aim of the Student Grant Competition at the Silesian University in Opava is to support specific university research projects, which is defined as research carried out by students in the implementation of accredited doctoral or master's study programs and which is directly connected to their education.
