Welcome party was held before the start of the new semester to bring international students together, make it easier for them to integrate into their new environment, and familiarize them with the Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava. This semester, we have welcomed students from Italy and Turkey.

Before the official event the group was taken to a guided tour of Town Hall Hláska (the best-known symbol and a dominant feature of Opava) organised by the Tourist Infomation Centre of Opava. After that we officially welcomed them on Silesian University grounds.

Among the participants were Vice-dean for Science and International Relations of Faculty of Philosophy and Science – doc. PhDr. Gabriela Rykalová, Ph.D., Erasmus+ Faculty coordinator Mgr. Kateřina Knoppová, Erasmus+ departmental coordinators, an Expat organisation representative Anton Husovský and guests.

As a bonus, after enjoying a delicious food buffet the participants were taken on a fascinating tour of our historical building on Masarykova street accompanied by Mgr. Hana Komárková, Ph.D. – a history expert.

We hope that the students´ stay will be at least as pleasant as this evening was.

We certainly wish them so.
