The RAGtime conference has long been an important professional platform for regular meetings of leading experts in the field of contemporary relativistic astrophysics, with a special focus on black holes, neutron stars, and accretion disks. This year, the event was attended by over 70 scientists from more than 15 universities across eight countries, including institutions from Italy, the United Kingdom, and Israel.
The conference was officially opened by Professor Zdeněk Stuchlík, Director of the Institute of Physics in Opava, who welcomed all participants in his opening speech and then continued with a specialist lecture on the issue of dark matter.
Participants also actively participated in the program as lecturers, presenting their latest scientific results in the form of expert panel presentations. This year, a total of 37 lectures were given, followed by intensive expert discussions. This mutual dialogue between scientists regularly leads to the establishment of new contacts and the development of international cooperation.
The event also featured a varied accompanying program, which included a visit to our Unisphere (university planetarium).
A total of eleven employees and students from the Institute of Physics in Opava were involved in organizing the event. "This year's conference was exceptionally successful and ranked among the best attended in recent years. Attendance was record-breaking in the history of the event, which clearly demonstrates the growing interest of the professional community in current topics in theoretical astrophysics," said the organizing team in its final evaluation of the conference.
