Workshop "Disk, Tori, Spheres: Accretion onto Compact Objects" in Opava

The Institute of Physics of the Silesian University in Opava hosted an international workshop entitled "Disk, Tori, Spheres: Accretion onto Compact Objects" in between 22nd to 27th of June, 2023. This prestigious event presented the scientific works of leading experts focused on accretion disks, general relativity and compact objects.

The workshop attracted 14 foreign experts, who presented the latest research and findings in their areas of expertise. The discussion and exchange of views between the speakers and the participants contributed to an intensive scientific dialogue.

The audience of the workshop also included students and academic staff of the Silesian University in Opava, who had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and inspiration from internationally recognized experts. This interaction between experienced scientists and young talented individuals represents a significant contribution to the development and future of scientific research at the Institute of Physics in Opava and the possibility of establishing new contacts including future cooperation.

The Workshop Disk, Tori, Spheres: Accretion onto Compact Objects represented an important opportunity for networking opportunity and shared knowledge among leading experts in the field of astrophysics. We are delighted that we were able to welcome such a large number of distinguished scientists and sincerely believe that this event has contributed to further progress in the field of accretion on compact objects.

In conclusion it has not only strengthened international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge between scientists, but also brought new opportunities for the popularization of science and its inspiration among future generations. Combining expertise with the popularization of science is key to the development of modern scientific research and innovation.
