Belfort and Montbéliard: a dynamic ecosystem in the heart of Europe

Your intensive week will be organized around projects located in two emblematic cities in the East of France, real laboratories of energy and industrial innovation that host UMLP campuses.
Belfort, dominated by its lion sculpted by Bartholdi and its UNESCO-listed Vauban citadel, is a major technological hub. The city is home to large companies such as GE Vernova, Arabelle Solutions and ALSTOM, as well as many companies specialising in energy and transport, including hydrogen. Every summer, it vibrates to the rhythm of the Eurockéennes, one of the largest music festivals in Europe, attracting 130,000 festival-goers in an exceptional setting, and its FIMU (International University Music Festival) which enlivens the streets every spring with thousands of student musicians from all over the world.
Montbéliard, the cradle of the Peugeot family and the French automotive industry, is now known in the fields of sustainable mobility and green technologies. The city, more than a thousand years old, also seduces with its authentic Christmas market, recognized as one of the most beautiful in France.

An exceptional living environment:

  • Dynamic student life: 15,000 students in the agglomeration, modern campus, active associations.
  • High-tech industry: car manufacturers, thermal and renewable energies, hydrogen ecosystem.
  • Culture and leisure: international festivals, historical heritage, sports activities (hiking, water sports, etc.).

    Testimonial of the 2025 edition

"The FutureLab was an amazing experience, not just because we worked on real projects for Zakliczyn, but because we got to do it with people from all over Europe. Being part of a team with students from different backgrounds like architecture, IT, and business really opened my eyes to how much we can learn from each other. We didn't just create ideas; we created friendships that have lasted beyond the classroom. It was one of those rare experiences that was both super fun and really meaningful."

Davut Turk, Hanze Univeristy of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).
