Visiting International Fellowship at the Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic

Call for Applications

Applications are invited for Visiting International Fellowship at the Mathematics Institute of the Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic.

The Fellowship is intended to increase the number of international faculty at the Silesian University, to foster scholarly networking and to enable the fellowship holder to carry out research in the Czech Republic. The fellow is expected to be in residence in Opava for the duration of the Fellowship and to contribute to the research activities of the Institute. English is foreseen as the main language of communication. 

The fellow will receive a monthly netto remuneration in the approximate range (taking into account the Czech currency exchange rate) from 700 euro to 1600 euro; the exact amount will be established depending on the applicant's qualifications. This remuneration represents the totality of funds the fellow will receive. The duration and the starting date of the Fellowship are subject to mutual agreement; the duration can be 1 – 4 months and the starting date cannot be sooner than July 1, 2019. The Fellowship must be completed no later than December 31, 2019.

The institutional support of the Silesian University must be acknowledged in all oral presentations and written publications that result from the Fellowship.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and have demonstrated excellence in research and strong promise of integration into the research activities of the host institution (see https://www.slu.cz/math/en/).

Applications should include:

− a short cover letter describing how the candidate can fulfil the objectives of the fellowship 

− curriculum vitae (including a list of publications and citation statistics of the work of the applicant)

− copies of the PhD (or equivalent) diploma and any other relevant diplomas

− a research statement describing the envisaged involvement of the applicant in research activities of the host institution (including names of possible collaborators in the Institute).

Applicants will be notified about the result of the application no later than June 15, 2019.
