Portal Terms and Conditions

Silesian University in Opava (hereinafter referred to as "SU"), with its registered office at Na Rybníčku 626/1, Opava 1, Company ID: 478 13 059, VAT ID: CZ478 13 059, hereby issues the Terms and Conditions for the Use of the SU Alumni Portal (hereinafter referred to as the "Rules").

For the purposes of these Rules, the Alumni Portal refers to the web application accessible at https://www.slu.cz/abs/en/ (hereinafter referred to as the "Portal").

The owner and operator of the Portal is SU, which, in accordance with Act No. 121/2000 Coll., the Copyright Act, is authorized to exercise property rights to this web application (hereinafter referred to as the "Operator"). The Operator holds all copyrights to the original content it places on the Portal, including text, design, technical diagrams, graphics, and all illustrations, as well as to the selection and arrangement of files contained on the Portal.

The rights and obligations of the Operator and Users when using the Portal are governed by these Rules. These Rules apply to all individuals who visit the Portal (hereinafter referred to as the "Users"). A User expresses their agreement with these Rules by registering on the Portal. By registering, the User also gains access to the Career Portal (https://www.slu.cz/kapo/en/).

The Operator makes every effort to ensure that the information on this Portal is up to date and therefore it is regularly revised and checked. Nevertheless, the Operator cannot guarantee its continuous accuracy, correctness, and timeliness. The Operator reserves the right to change and modify the provided information at any time without prior notice.

The Operator is entitled to remove any content from the Portal at any time if it is in violation of the legal system of the Czech Republic, public morals, or public order, or if its content conflicts with the interests of the Operator. In particular, the Operator is authorized to remove misleading or false content, content that infringes on the rights and legitimate interests of third parties, content that is offensive to human dignity, discriminatory based on religion, belief, race, or gender, or that promotes violence or any other unlawful conduct.

The User undertakes to comply with the applicable legal regulations of the Czech Republic when using this Portal and to always act in accordance with good morals, fair business practices, and these Rules. The User shall not damage the reputation or rights of the Operator or other Users in any way.

The User specifically agrees not to:

• use the Portal, in whole or in part, for any purpose other than their own personal use; specifically, they shall not copy, download, or distribute content from the Portal beyond what is necessary for personal use,
• interfere in any way with the content or technical structure of the Portal without the Operator's consent,
• compromise the security of this Portal,
• interfere with other Users’ use of the Portal or prevent them from accessing or using it in any way,
• use the Portal to send unsolicited messages (spam), chain letters, or hoaxes,
• send messages containing viruses or any other harmful or malicious software to the Portal,
• create fake messages to falsify the sender’s identity or attempt to access other Users’ accounts,
• attempt to access parts of the Portal that are restricted to public use,
• distribute on this Portal any messages or materials that violate the legal regulations of the Czech Republic, public morals, public order, or are inconsistent with the Operator’s interests. In particular, the User undertakes not to spread false or misleading information or materials that infringe the rights and legitimate interests of third parties, that are offensive to human dignity, discriminatory on the basis of religion, belief, race, or gender, or that promote violence or any other illegal activity.

Access to and use of the website https://www.slu.cz/abs/en is free of charge.

Access to the website https://www.slu.cz/abs/en may be fully or partially conditioned by the Operator on the provision of certain personal data by the User in accordance with legislation governing personal data protection. The Operator undertakes to handle such data in accordance with applicable legal regulations and to use them only to the extent necessary for the purpose for which the data is collected, always in a manner that prevents any harm to the data subjects. The Rules for using the Portal are valid and effective as of the date of their publication. The moment of publication is considered to be the moment the Rules are posted on the Portal.

Only the Operator is authorized to amend or supplement these Rules. The Operator may modify the Rules at any time. The Operator will announce changes to the Rules by posting a notice on the Portal. By continuing to use the Portal, the User expresses their agreement with the updated version of the Rules.
