Dozens of participants from abroad attended the fourth edition of International Week
In the week of 24 April 2023, the School of Business Administration hosted the 4th edition of International Week (IW) event, which aimed to provide opportunities for discussion and sharing of good practice in the field of internationalisation of universities, deepening cooperation within our network of partner universities and establishing new contacts. The IW is also a great opportunity for employees from our partner universities to go for an Erasmus+ stay abroad. We welcomed over 70 participants from 14 different countries and 20 foreign universities. Countries represented included Albania, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Turkey. More than 150 students from our faculty also participated in the programme.

Statement on the use of artificial intelligence (AI)
It has been several months since the launch of the ChatGPT generative language model and since then the model has been evolving at an extremely rapid pace. It is therefore not surprising that, in addition to the excitement about the new technological possibilities, there are concerns among the professional and lay public about how far and in what way the use of AI will impact on the way education and assessment are delivered. However, these fears of compromised academic integrity or unethical behaviour are not only about student work, but also about scientific or artistic studies, publications and presentations. Artificial intelligence thus needs to be approached ethically and responsibly.

Inauguration of the new Rector and the highest representatives of the two faculties
On 16 May, the inauguration of the new Rector of Silesian University in Opava, Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Gongol, PhD, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava Prof. PhDr. Irena Korbelářová, Dr. and the Dean of the School of Business Administration in Karviná Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Roman Šperka, PhD will take place in the Church of St. Wenceslas in Opava in the presence of other university rectors, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Moravian-Silesian Region, the statutory towns of Opava and Karviná and other important guests of scientific, cultural and social life.

Run with the Faculty
On 10 May 2023, the 9th edition of the event called Run with Faculty will take place. You might have noticed that we have changed the name slightly. But that is the only change. The route, distance and props remain the same. The run is from the University Square to Lodičky area. This run is open to the general public, including students and teachers or kids. You can run the race as an individual, in a relay, or you can bring your little ones along for a kids' run.

International Week: Get involved and earn 3 credits!
From 24 - 28 April 2023, the Faculty will host International Week. During this event, academics and colleagues from our partner universities abroad will come to visit us. From Tuesday to Thursday, there will be lectures in English on a variety of topics and we offer 3 credits within elective courses for active participation in these lectures and seminars. Registration is required.

Easter Celebration with International Students
Easter is one of the most fun and enjoyable days of the year. It is a holiday that symbolizes the arrival of spring for almost every country. Additionally, Easter is an important day that brings international students together. On April 4th, all students gathered at the Faculty, and each person from a different country presented how Easter is celebrated and what is done in their country with their amazing presentations to other international students. The most beautiful part was the enactment of how Easter traditions are celebrated in Czechia. This year's Easter event was attended by students from variety of nations, including Turkey, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Ukraine.
