General access to the university e-systems

To get the access to the systems of the Silesian University in Opava you have to follow the steps listed below:

1. Submission of the student application e-form:

Information for new students: In the portal of the study agenda (STAG) you have to get the pseudo-birthcode first which enables you to fill-in and then to submit the application e-form following the procedure depending on whether you are an Erasmus incoming student (click here) or a non-Erasmus incoming student (click here).

Information for new university employees: Ask the person you have been in contact with already (the respective departmental secretary in most the cases) for the access to the university systems.

 

2. Obtaining of the student/staff ID code:

Information for new students: After the respective employee of our university has processed your application e-form you will obtain the unique student ID code. This code will grant you the access to the most of the university systems (e.g. university e-mail, study agenda STAG, wireless network Eduroam, university libraries…) and enables you to obtain the student identification card of the Silesian University in Opava which includes the ISIC privileges too.

Information for new university employees: After the respective employee of our university has added you into our central system you will obtain the unique staff code. This code will grant you the access to the most of the university systems (e.g. university e-mail, study agenda STAG, wireless network Eduroam, university libraries…) and enables you to obtain the staff identification card of the Silesian University in Opava which includes the ITIC privileges too.

 

3. The first login into the universal university system SJP Novell:

Information for new students: For the first login into the university system SJP Novell and to the study agenda STAG please use the obtained student ID code and as password your pseudo-birthcode with the initial character “x” (for example x8101125325). Then please change the password after clicking on the “Změna hesla”-button located in the right upper corner of the screen. The login-page of the SJP Novell can be found here.

Information for new university employees: For the first login into the university system SJP Novell and to the study agenda STAG please use the obtained staff ID code and password  your have received via e-mail from one of our employees you are in contact with (from the respective departmental secretary in most the cases). Then please change the password after the first login by clicking on the “Změna hesla”-button located in the right upper corner of the screen. The login-page of the SJP Novell can be found here.

 

4. Obtaining the access to the study agenda STAG:

Information for new students: To access the study agenda STAG please use your student ID code and your password (see above). The STAG allows you to manage your timetable, to contact your classmates and/or teachers, to enroll your exams etc. The STAG login page can be found here.

Information for new university employees: To access the study agenda STAG please use your staff ID code and your password (see above). The STAG allows you to manage your timetable, to contact your students and/or teachers, to add results of your students etc. The STAG login page can be found here.

 

5.  Obtaining the student/staff ID card with ISIC/ITIC privileges:

To obtain the student/staff ID card with ISIC/ITIC privileges for the holder please follow this instruction:

Each student/staff member of the Silesian University in Opava can obtain the ID card which remains valid until the end of his/her study/working at our university. The ID card enables its holder the access to the ISIC privileges. The ID card costs 150CZK a year. The extension of the validity costs another 150 CZK a year.

How to get an student ID card?

Prepare a standard colour passport photo 35 mm x 45 mm in form of an electronic file in jpg format with these parameters: 719 x 925 pixels with 96 dpi (or 230 x 296 pixels with 300 dpi). To reach the parameters needed it is necessary to modify the photo you want to upload first utilizing one of the freeware programmes, e.g. http://pixlr.com/editor/?loc=cs

    Fill in the e-form after you have logged in: Use your “Login” (“Přihlašovací jméno”) and “Password” (“Heslo”) you already have (see step 2 above) utilizing the following login page https://karty.slu.cz.

    From the menu on the right side choose „Žádost o novou IDK“ (“ID card application”).

    Choose the type of the ID card you want, the place of issue (Opava or Karviná) and upload your password photo. Then press the button „Pokračovat“ („Continue“).

    Review the typed data and then press the button confirming that your personal data may be processed.

    After the verification of the submitted data by one of our employees you will receive a confirmation e-mail including if necessary the payment details.

    It generation of a new ID cards lasts in ordinary cases approximately 5 workdays. Every ID card will first be made after the received payment.

    You will receive an notification e-mail when your new ID card is ready to be picked up at the place you have chosen (Opava, Masarykova třída 37, Opava 746 01 or Karviná Univerzitní náměstí 1943/3, Karviná 733 40, roam nr. B302, GPS 49°51'15.381"N, 18°32'54.649"E).

    6. Getting the access to your university e-mail box:

    Your university e-mail box enables you among others to get the access to the the wireless network Eduroam which can be found at all the Czech universities and and other places across Europe. Before you login switch the language of the e-mail box to English first. For login type your ID code and your password. After you have successfully logged in, click in the menu on the left on “My Account” – “Eduroam” and set your new Eduroam password which has to be different from your SJP Novell password.     7. Obtaining the access to the wireless network Eduroam

    The wireless network Eduroam is an international project which the aim to support the international mobility and roaming within the National Research and Education Networks (NREN). In the Czech Republic the project is carried on by the Cesnet company.

    This text provides information about the connection to the wireless network (Wireless) at the Silesian University in Opava which is a member of this project.

    How to get the access to the Eduroam?

    To login to the Eduroam wireless network you have to login under a username consisting of your ID code+@+realm or domain name (for students e.g. F123456+@+slu.cz, for staff members surname+special characters+@+abreviation of the respective faculty+slu.cz e.g. millerj@fpf.slu.cz). It is always necessary to provide the complete identity including the correct realm, since the realm is used for directing authentication requests. The username without a realm is not valid within the Eduroam project.

    Support

    Eduroam support (user wireless devices, identities) is provided by each organization participating in the Eduroam project. Local network administrators can provide advice or basic support for foreign users. In case of any technical problem with Eduroam please contact us under eduroam-support@slu.cz .

    Security: preferred WPA2 (with AES only) or for compatibility reasons WPA (with TKIP or AES encryption)

    For English speaking students it is recommended to use the respective auto-configuration file which can be downloaded here.

     

    8. Validity extension of the student ID card ISIC

    As long as you remain a student of the Silesian University in Opava your student ID card ISIC can be extended the validity. The validity extension costs 150CZK/year.
