Congratulations to our first international graduates from Master’s programme in Business Economics and Management! Prathiba, Benoy, Sarath and Visakh arrived at our faculty in 2018 as the very first batch of Indian students in this programme. During their studies, they were awarded scholarships for excellent study results, participated in Erasmus+ study and traineeship abroad but most importantly, they became a vital part of our university life. On behalf of the whole faculty team, we would like to wish you all success in your personal life and future career path.

How did the graduates sum up their studies in Karviná? Read a few paragraphs from Sarath, Visakh and Benoy bellow.

I still can remember the night when I made the decision to apply to Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná. Until this point, I have never regretted my decision. From the first day until today, it has been amazing. As said by Benjamin Disraeli "A University should be a place of light, of liberty, and of learning". Yes, Silesian University offered me everything I needed as a student. We were the first group of full-time international students at our faculty and I am proud that I was one among them. The support provided to us by every member of the university was overwhelming. The international office worked day in and day out with us to ensure that our life in Karviná is more than exciting.

Our University offered us several scholarships during the period of study and gave us several opportunities to enrich knowledge and exposure. We were given opportunity to study one semester abroad at a different university and do internships under the Erasmus+ program.  Our University has also a student buddy program to help international students. Without them, we could have had some troubles, e.g. with language barrier. We were given opportunities to attend international seminars and went to Poland for attending one held in Rzeszow. That trip to Poland was one of the best trips I have had in my entire life. Finally, a Czech language course offered to us made our life in the Czech Republic much easier.

What else does a student need other than a supportive university team, handful of scholarships, a good ambience, well equipped dormitory, a complete library, and a bunch of nice people around. Honestly, one of the best decisions made in my life.”- Ing. Sarath Thulaseedharan Mallika, 2020 graduate

Journey from Airapuram, Kerala to Silesian University, Karvina was amazing. My decision was right. Now I have completed Master’s in Business Economics and Management at Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná. This moment is very proud and very important to me. My university supported me during my entire study. We were the first group of full-time international students at our faculty and I am proud that I am one among them. International office was very supportive and literally they asked, “what can we do for you”. Student buddy program was very helpful for all foreign students. Silesian university provided us opportunity to explore other countries by means of international seminars and Erasmus+ program. Our university also provides scholarships, which motivates us to study well.
Excellent dormitory, library, university campus, supportive teachers and staff, international seminars, and celebrations – what else one needs. Once again, my choice was right and I’m proud of myself for my decision to study at Silesian University. I use this opportunity to thank all who supported me during my studies - my parents, teachers, non-academic staff and my friends.

What led me, as an international student, to Silesian University and Karviná, was geography. But not only that. Of course, it was the discipline of study and also the characteristics of the city and culture. Nestled in the center of Europe, being a central node in this European network of cities, routes and ideas, I knew that studying in the Czech Republic would expose me to a unique diversity of people and culture and provide me with the ability to travel easily around the area.
The university is very welcoming to international students and makes sure you have all the information ahead of your stay. They are all very helpful concerning accommodation and most international students are staying in the same building. The quality of the classes is good. During my studies, I experienced a different way of teaching – small groups with lots of interaction. The faculty also has a very well thought out student buddy programme. The coordinators made sure that all of us (the international students) were assigned with a student buddy to help us out in this new experience. It was very helpful in becoming more aware and involved in all the things. I am also very happy and grateful to all and to Ing. Radmila Unucková for supporting me. So thankful to Veronika Novotná, Veronika Maťková and Michaela Ferencová for motivating me and being along my path. Teachers who taught me and shared their immense knowledge with us. It was a very fulfilling experience.
As a part of the study I had opted Italy and Belgium for my Erasmus+ internship and study stay. I am happy to say that I had the most wonderful times during my Erasmus+ stay with a great learning experience and also being a part of such rich culture.
Overall, it was a great experience and I am glad I chose Silesian University for doing my masters. All the learning and wonderful memories gathered here will stay with me wherever i go.
