The participants were welcomed to the faculty by the Vice Dean for International Relations, Mgr. Kateřina Janků, Ph.D., who emphasized in her opening remarks the importance of international cooperation and the sharing of experiences in the field of health promotion and social services.
In addition to staff from the Institute of Paramedical Health Studies (Mgr. Markéta Skalná, Ph.D., and MUDr. Jan Žatecký, Ph.D.), the meeting was attended by members of the project team from the Netherlands (Hanze University of Applied Sciences), Portugal (Polytechnic University of Bragança), Spain (University of La Laguna and Servicio Canario de la Salud), and Sweden (University West). Its aim is to advance the implementation of key project activities, particularly in the areas of needs analysis, the development of digital tools, and the training of caregivers. The two-day meeting agenda includes workshops, presentations of current outputs, and planning for the project’s next steps, including preparation for pilot testing and the practical implementation of results.
The STARS-Health project brings together universities and healthcare institutions from several European countries and focuses on supporting people with lower health and digital literacy. Collaboration with healthcare providers and the involvement of experts who help validate and develop proposed solutions in real-world settings also play a significant role in the project. Hosting this meeting in Opava represents an important step in the project’s implementation and also confirms the Silesian University’s active involvement in international research and innovation cooperation in the field of health and social care.
