The Institute of the Czech Studies and Library Science consists of three departments: the Department of Czech Studies, the Department of Library Science and the Department of Cultural Dramaturgy.
We offer both Bachelor, as well as Master study programmes.
Bachelor Studies (3 years)
Master Studies (2 years)
We also provide extra-mural studies in the Bachelor programme of Czech Language and Literature, and in the Bachelor as well as Master programmes of Library Science.
Our graduates find their positions easily, especially those of the programme of Czech Literature, with its wide range of subjects (relation of literature to music, film and visual arts, screenplay, production preparation and edition practice). Such a combination of issues makes them ideally suited to editor‘s offices and publishing houses. The graduates of the programme Library Science, in which the students learn more comprehensive and practical computer science skills, are also in high demand.
The Department of Czech studies concentrates on spoken language and dialectology research, the main research area focuses on the Czech literature in the 20th century. It is worth mentioning that several conferences on this theme have been held here. Each year proceedings were published. In addition, the Department of Library Science concentrates on the transformations of librarianship in the digital era. Besides cooperating with scholarly institutions and universities in the Czech Republic, our Institute collaborates with the universities in Slovakia (Bratislava, Banská Bystrica), Poland (Opole, Wrocław, Katowice) and other countries.
