Faculty Of Public Policies in Opava

Since its establishment, the Silesian University in Opava has had a priority aim of establishing a library incorporating the whole university in Hauerova Street. The reconstruction project also includes an information centre.

As yet, the central library of the Faculty of Philosophy and Science and the Faculty of Public Policies has been situated in Masarykova street. The German, Austrian and English Libraries can be found in the same building. The German one was established in the autumn of 1997 with the help of Hermann Niermann Fund from Düssesldorf. The Austrian one was established in the autumn of 1993 thanks to initiative of a former Austrian ambassador in the Czech Republic, dr. Peter Niesner. A wide range of computer facilities and services is provided and maintained at the university, including the university‘s computer network.
